This was a collaboration of thoughts between Rick and I. He asked me to paint this Native American with a wolf. I added the hummingbirds and the cactus/flowers. We both came together on the American flag.

I never understand the whole concept of what I put on the canvas until I research the symbolism after it is finished.

Here’s what I know, the Native American was first on this land. They are also the first in line to defend it.

The wolf symbolizes courage , strength,direction,family,loyalty and endurance.

The hummingbird was associated with endurance, beauty , healing and integrity and is regarded with admiration for being strong fighters and protectors of their homeland.

The cactus represents strength and endurance in the harshest conditions.

The flag is a symbol of freedom and liberty.

It all makes so much sense when you put it all together
